My Polytheism — Elizabeth Vongvisith

My polytheism:

1. I don’t care if you are a polytheist. I don’t care if you’re a monotheist. I don’t even care if you’re an atheist. What I care about is whether or not you are willing to respect that my faith is important to *me* even if it isn’t yours.

2. I have no idea what any of the gods want from others. It’s none of my goddamn business unless I’m asked for my opinion. I probably still won’t have any idea.

3. Lore, tradition, or archaeological evidence are nice jumping-off points, but they’re not the be-all and end-all of practice or belief, nor will they supercede my own needs as a modern worshiper or the requirements of my gods as They attempt to interact with Their followers in the 21st century.

4. You’re damn right I’m going to listen to my own understanding of what my gods want and what I feel is right over your insistence that I’m Doing It Wrong. Suck it up, buttercup.
